In 2008, Dan Bitner sensed a shifting, anti-Christian attitude among politicians. āI felt the need to get more engaged,ā Dan recalls. āI voted but was not as informed as I should have been. Iām afraid I was one of the ones who would get up to speed for every election cycle, vote and then go back to sleep.ā
Now, as the Affiliate Leader of the Salt & Light Biblical Citizenship Ministry at Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran, Dan helps the church distribute a well-received voter guide that stresses the Biblical values and positions of candidates. The congregation also hosts periodic Salt & Light Prayer and Action meetings. Dan observes, āWe continue to do what we can to wake up people. I see this as a long-term project. I view the difficulty as people not always connecting the dots between the Biblical position of a candidate and their Christian principles, and how they doāor do notāwork or live according to a Biblical worldview.ā
