CAN KISSEL RESTORE CAMPUS FREE SPEECH?

Campus Free Speech

Big changes may be underway for the U.S. Department of Education’s stance on political correctness on college campuses in America, and the ongoing, all-too-frequent trampling upon the free-speech rights of both students and professors for at least the past 25 years. Lifezette news informs that Adam Kissel, a free-speech advocate who’s gone head-to-head with American universities over speech codes and denial of due-process rights—and has almost always succeeded in getting them to back down—has been appointed the agency’s deputy assistant secretary for higher education programs. Research Associate Mary Clare Reim of The Heritage Foundation agrees positive change is coming with Kissel’s appointment, reports OneNewNow.com: “This comes at a time where many Americans are concerned about sending their kids off to college and wondering if their free speech rights are going to get infringed on. We see a complete lack of diversity of thought on college campuses today. And so the appointment of Mr. Kissel shows that protecting the free speech rights of our college students will be a priority.”

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 4:15.
PRAY: Universities again embrace diversity of ideas.
ACTION: Go to the Salt & Light table. Write a postcard: “Dear Secretary DeVos, I welcome your appointment of Adam Kissel. I pray he reverses policies that have chilled free speech on college campuses.” Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20202.
